The Olympic Torch Relay

This morning we took Lewis and Sophie to see the Olympic Torch arrive and depart Canada Olympic Park. This was a venue at the 1988 Olympics, when hosted by Calgary, where Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards became famous. It was an early start to get to COP for breakfast at 7:30, but it was better than school, and the torch arrived at around 9:40. We got a great view as the torch bearer came down the bob sled run followed by the half pipe (snowboarders playground for their tricks) and then lit the Cauldron. The next torchbearer then lit a new torch from the Cauldron and headed off to Banff. This was rather a special event for Calgarian’s as the Olympic flame was coming back to Calgary after a 22 year absence. For more pictures - click here
