20 Years of marriage!

Last weekend we went to Banff to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Nick and Ali also tagged along because we met them on our honeymoon in Austria all those years ago, so it seemed fitting that we spent the weekend together. We stayed in a lovely hotel and spoiled ourselves by staying in a loft suite. The video above is the view from our balcony. The weather was beautiful and the weekend was topped off by Canada beating USA in the hockey final of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics!

Lewis is 12!

It was Lewis' birthday on the 17th (and our anniversary), so we had a meal out at Japanese Village with Ali, Nick, Erin and Jacob. Lewis had to wear the wig and Jacob agreed to wear the other one :-)

Good Luck Vaughn!

This is Sophie, her friend Lucy and her sister Liberty, with Vaughn Chipeur, who is on his way to compete in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. Vaughn is a member of the same skating club as Sophie and they organised this party for him. All the other members were able to skate with him and wish him GOOD LUCK in Vancouver!

The Olympic Torch Relay

This morning we took Lewis and Sophie to see the Olympic Torch arrive and depart Canada Olympic Park. This was a venue at the 1988 Olympics, when hosted by Calgary, where Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards became famous. It was an early start to get to COP for breakfast at 7:30, but it was better than school, and the torch arrived at around 9:40. We got a great view as the torch bearer came down the bob sled run followed by the half pipe (snowboarders playground for their tricks) and then lit the Cauldron. The next torchbearer then lit a new torch from the Cauldron and headed off to Banff. This was rather a special event for Calgarian’s as the Olympic flame was coming back to Calgary after a 22 year absence. For more pictures - click here

Skating on the Lake

We went skating today at Bowness, which is just down by the river. This is a lagoon that you can boat on in the summer and freezes over in the winter. It was just lovely to be able to skate outside on a frozen pond on Christmas Eve with Christmas music playing in the background. They even had fires, in concrete drums, on the ice for you to warm your hands (and bum). Just perfect! View some more photos - click here

Zoo Lights

Every year leading up to Christmas The Calgary Zoo create Zoo Lights, where they employ Clark Griswold to blitz the whole Zoo in lights. They have lots of fires going around the park and activities for the kids. For more pictures click here
